Named by early settlers as a place where only angels could land, Angels Landing is a very narrow sandstone monolith feature rising almost 1,500 feet above the Zion Canyon floor.  It is always impressive to me to see the persistence and resilience of life with ponderosa pine trees growing out of solid rock, bent and weathered by strong winds atop this lofty perch.
