Kolob Canyon is found in the Northwest section of Zion National Park and is less frequented than the main canyon. Kolob is made up of various finger canyons formed by water cutting through the relatively soft sandstone and is located near the middle of the Grand Staircase formation that starts at Bryce Canyon and “steps” its’ way down to the Grand Canyon.
Entering this section of the park is like stepping into another world and as the sun sets on Kolob’s towering formations, the last reflected light glows red on its’ face. The rising full moon only adds to the otherworldly feel of this amazing place.
