Near St. George, Utah, Snow Canyon State Park is a quiet corner in the Southern Utah sea of red rock. The park itself is geologically fascinating with many lava flows, lava tubes, petrified remains of ancient sand dunes, and varied sandstone coloration representing different geological periods. The park is home to many native plant and animal species as well including the endangered Desert Tortoise. Unlike nearby national parks, Snow Canyon is relatively quiet and a great place for the hiker looking for a little more solitude.
