Isolated in a more remote section of Capitol Reef National Park, the Temples of the Sun and Moon consist of Entrada Sandstone and were formed from sand deposits over 150 million years old.  Over time as the deposits erode, the sand is so fine that it is immediately swept away by wind and rain leaving no talus slopes resulting in impressive monolith formations that rise up in sheer cliffs from the ground.

Sitting alone in the presence of these imposing ancient monuments in pure silence is both a humbling and reflective experience leaving you devoid of any sense of time or place.
