The Virgin River is the steady workhorse at the floor of Zion Canyon responsible for carving the canyon’s many features out of the Colorado Plateau over millions of years.  Along with its’ architectural duties, the river provides for a beautiful oasis amongst an otherwise rocky and dusty desert.  Fall in Zion National Park is a spectacular sight dominated by yellow Fremont Cottonwood trees mixed with colorful scrub oak, pine and other beautiful foliage.
